WAnderland
Regional Collections of WA
During 2020–21, while much of the world was in lockdown and travel was restricted, I travelled more than 22,000 km across Western Australia—primarily by road—with a portable studio kit to document some of the state’s most remote art and museum collections.
This project was delivered as part of an election commitment to represent regional Western Australia better and formed the basis of the WA Museum’s online tourism portal. It included Aboriginal Art Centres, Historical Museums, private museums and Aboriginal language centres.
The journey resulted in the documentation of more than 700 artworks, objects, and curios from 218 collections across the state. From quirky curios to objects of global cultural significance, WAnderland is an epic project that only WA could deliver.
